In the corner of each household's field, there is a basket to catch the worms. When the tide recedes, the worms will follow the water flow and get caught in the basket. The worm hunters must watch the net in the corner of their field to harvest. Every 10-15 minutes, people empty the basket. Photo: Dinh Tuyen |

In the past, when the worms were all over the place, the whole village would go out to collect them. In recent years, the value of worms has increased, and families with fields of worms have asserted their "sovereignty" by using nets to block them from spreading to other fields. Photo: Dinh Tuyen |

Mr. Pham Van Loi - a resident of Phu Xuan hamlet said: People here cultivate rice entirely with manure and especially do not use pesticides, because doing so will affect the reproduction of underground worms. For people with fields along the Lam River, growing rice is only a sideline and the worms are the main income because on good days, the amount of worms can bring in an income equal to the money from a ton of rice.
