Thanh Chuong has the largest herd of pigs in Nghe An.
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An currently has more than 900,000 pigs, of which Thanh Chuong district alone accounts for more than 11.5% with 104,000 pigs.
As a district specializing in agricultural production, Thanh Chuong people focus on raising pigs quite a lot. According to the district's Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station, before the African swine fever epidemic, Thanh Chuong had 110,000 pigs. However, after 7 months of the epidemic, the locality has destroyed more than 6,500 pigs. Currently, Thanh Chuong district's pig herd is still the "largest" in the province, with 104,000 pigs.

"Thanh Chuong currently has 270 pig farms. Notably, 11 of them have a scale of over 1,000 pigs. Typical examples are Mr. Nguyen Sy Tung's pig farm in Thanh Lam commune; Mr. Nguyen Van Duc's in Thanh Huong commune... Of the 104,000 pigs in Thanh Chuong district, there are 28,000 sows, the rest are meat pigs."
According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, by early December, Nghe An's total pig herd was about 900,000. Thanh Chuong raised the most pigs, followed by Yen Thanh district with 89,000 pigs, of which 25,000 were sows and the rest were porkers.Next are the districts: Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Tan Ky, Nam Dan...

Currently, African swine fever is showing a strong downward trend, with only 58 communes in Nghe An province having not passed 30 days of the epidemic. However, small-scale livestock farms that have not ensured biosecurity in their barns are not allowed to repopulate. Large farms or businesses that have applied good disease prevention measures are still allowed to repopulate.
