(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 12, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh inspected a number of large-scale rice field models producing high-quality commercial rice in Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An.

Also attending were representatives of the Department of Crop Production, the Institute of Agricultural Genetics, the North Central Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An province, and the agricultural sector of Hung Nguyen district.

In Long Xa commune, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh and members of the delegation inspected a large field producing high-quality rice with an area of 30 hectares. Through actual production in the field, it was shown that the new rice variety has high adaptability, good lodging resistance, yield of 67 tons/ha, long grain, delicious rice, meeting export standards.

Next, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and members of the delegation inspected a large field of 30 hectares of pure rice production in Dong village, Hung Thong commune. This is also a pure rice variety with good quality rice, yielding 68 quintals/ha.

After inspecting two large fields of high-quality commercial rice production in Hung Nguyen, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh highly appreciated the quality of both rice varieties; at the same time, he praised Hung Nguyen for doing a good job of directing production, bringing the area of high-quality pure rice in the whole district in this spring crop to 62% of the total area. Despite unfavorable weather and pests, the average rice yield in Hung Nguyen still reached 68 quintals/ha.

Comrade Le Quoc Doanh also noted that the district needs to direct farmers to quickly harvest spring rice to promptly deploy summer-autumn rice production to ensure food safety./.
