Vinh City: Will establish 4 wards on the basis of communes: Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Nghi Phu, Nghi Duc

(Baonghean.vn) - 4 communes: Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Nghi Phu, Nghi Duc (Vinh City) are currently oriented to be established into 4 wards when implementing the Project to expand administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh City.

Recently, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision 2572/QD-UBND approving the Outline of the Project to expand the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city, Nghe An province; assigning the Department of Home Affairs to preside over and coordinate the implementation.

Based on the Outline, the authorities are currently focusing on developing the Project in 2022 and 2023 with the following tasks: Developing an urban review report including: A report on reviewing the criteria for type I urban areas for the entire expanded Vinh City; a report assessing the standards on the level of infrastructure development for areas expected to establish wards; developing maps attached to the review report.

The Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Home Affairs to develop a Project to expand the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh City, including two contents: expanding Vinh City on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population size of Cua Lo town and 6 communes: Nghi Thach, Nghi Xuan, Nghi Phong, Phuc Tho, Nghi Thai, Khanh Hop of Nghi Loc district into Vinh City; at the same time, establishing 4 wards of Vinh City on the basis of the original natural area and population size of 4 communes: Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Nghi Phu, Nghi Duc.

According to data from Nghe An Department of Home Affairs: Hung Dong commune currently has an area of ​​6.42km2, population over 13,000 people; Hung Loc commune has an area of ​​6.72km2, population of nearly 22,000 people; Nghi Phu commune has an area of ​​6.47km2, population nearly 21,000 people; Nghi Duc commune has an area of ​​5.69km2, population over 7,000 people.

Nghe An Provincial People's Committee requires that the construction of the Project be carried out democratically, publicly and in accordance with current legal procedures and regulations; and in accordance with the criteria, standards and procedures for establishing administrative units and upgrading urban areas.

Vinh City currently has 25 commune-level administrative units, including 16 wards: Ben Thuy, Cua Nam, Doi Cung, Dong Vinh, Ha Huy Tap, Hong Son, Hung Binh, Hung Dung, Hung Phuc, Le Loi, Le Mao, Quan Bau, Quang Trung, Trung Do, Truong Thi, Vinh Tan and 9 communes: Hung Chinh, Hung Dong, Hung Hoa, Hung Loc, Nghi An, Nghi Duc, Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien, Nghi Phu with a population of nearly 390,000 people.

After completing the expansion, Vinh City will have a natural area of ​​more than 181km2, population of about 461,600 people with 38 administrative units of communes and wards.

The adjustment of administrative boundaries to expand the urban space of Vinh City aims to concretize Decision No. 52/QD-TTg dated January 14, 2015 of the Prime Minister approving the adjustment of the master plan of Vinh City, Nghe An Province to 2030, with a vision to 2050; Decision 827/QD-TTg dated June 12, 2020 of the Prime Minister approving the Project to develop Vinh City into an economic and cultural center of the North Central region by 2023 in the spirit of Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

With the merger of the entire Cua Lo town and 6 communes of Nghi Loc district into Vinh city, upon completion, Nghe An will have 20 district-level administrative units (1 city, 2 towns and 17 districts); compared to the current 21 district-level administrative units (1 city, 3 towns, 17 districts).
