In parallel with advising on the development of programs, projects and plans to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic, the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board has carried out planning and planning management tasks in economic zones and industrial parks; effectively organized promotion work, attracted investment and boosted production and business activities of enterprises in economic zones and industrial parks.

Specifically, in 2022, 34 projects were attracted and 14 projects were adjusted to increase capital with a total newly granted and adjusted investment of VND 30,355.4 billion compared to the plan of VND 15,000 - 20,000 billion (equivalent to USD 1.31 billion), exceeding 102% of the plan and increasing 235% over the same period.

Also in 2022, the Management Board advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Government for approval of the investment policy of 2 Industrial Parks with a scale of 834.79 hectares. Those are phase 1 of Tho Loc Industrial Park and Hoang Mai II Industrial Park.

As of December 31, 2022, the Southeast Economic Zone had 138 enterprises in operation, creating jobs for 30,128 workers, with an average income of VND 7.29 million/person/month, estimated revenue of VND 58,514 billion; estimated export of USD 920 million, estimated import of USD 896 million; budget contribution of VND 1,897 billion...

In addition, the Board also provided good advice on investment in infrastructure construction of economic zones and industrial parks. Specifically, along with the mass implementation of 9 projects and the commencement of 3 new projects, the Board proposed investment policies for 4 projects with a total investment of 2,163 billion VND; directed the implementation of technical infrastructure of 3 key industrial parks to attract investment; mobilized 1,379,562 billion VND for investment in technical infrastructure of economic zones and industrial parks.

In addition, the Board continues to advise on land management, environmental protection, business and labor management in economic zones and industrial parks; continues to promote administrative reform, and improve the investment environment.

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Bui Thanh An emphasized that the fluctuations of the world economy, epidemics and inflation have affected the economy of Vietnam as well as Nghe An. However, in the midst of difficulties, the province still has investment attraction results that are worthy of recognition and praise.

Although the economic zone development plan is still in the process of adjustment and completion, the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board has made many efforts and achieved high results in attracting FDI investment. In 2022, for the first timeNghe An is one of the 10 localities attracting the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country.Notably, there have been large projects participating in the global production and supply chain, demonstrating the attractiveness and investment environment of Nghe An has significantly improved.

In addition to recognizing the efforts of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also emphasized that the above results include the contributions and investment determination of infrastructure investors and enterprises in the economic zone and industrial park. The province has also made efforts to complete essential technical infrastructure pillars for the economic zone such as electricity, transportation, seaports, housing for workers, etc.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that in 2023, the Board should continue to complete the detailed planning and zoning plan of the Southeast Economic Zone, and complete the procedures to change the name to Nghe An Economic Zone Management Board.
